ABOUT
The Interior Independent Theatre, Inc., was formed to provide cultural enrichment and entertainment for the community and to provide an outlet for artistic talents in our community of the greater Fairbanks area. The specific purpose for which this non-for-profit corporation was formed is to encourage, promote, and develop interest in the arts and to produce plays and any other various forms of live theater to enhance the cultural level of our community.
Board of Directors
Gwen Brazier
Gwendolyn P. Brazier began teaching for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District in 2009. In her first year with the district she taught general music and physical education at Salcha Elementary School. 2010 was the beginning of her current part time music position at Barnette Magnet School teaching band and orchestra. In 2013 she began teaching at Arctic Light Elementary School making her a full time Band and Orchestra teacher.
Her talents do not end in the classroom. Ms. Brazier is an avid Fairbanks arts community supporter and performer. She has performed as a bassist in the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra and as a guest soloist and choral member of Choir of the North and the Alaska Camerata. She has directed and performed in numerous shows throughout the Fairbanks theater community. She has worked and performed with the Fairbanks Drama Association, Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre, Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre, UAF Theater and Film, Fairbanks Opera as well as the University of Alaska Student Drama Association. Currently, she sits on the board of directors for Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre in the position of Past President and performs with a popular 70's funk band.
Adam Kohl
A salesman and independent film producer in the Fairbanks area, Adam Kohl has been performing music and theater since 1994, starting in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Adam studied Music Performance at Brigham Young University - Idaho, earning his Bachelor Degree in 2007. He was brought to Alaska with the 9th Army Band in 2009, performing on tuba with different ensembles throughout the state. Outside of performing with the Army Band, Adam has performed with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra. Adam was brought to stage theater with Fairbanks Light Opera Theater with Sweeney Todd, Secret Garden, Les Miserables, Once Upon a Mattress, and the music director for The Music Man.
Adam saw a need for smaller, experimental and edgy shows in the interior of Alaska. Being one of the founding members of IIT, he strives to be a pioneer in changing the performing arts scene in Fairbanks.
Tristan Hovest
Tristan Hovest is the band teacher at Lathrop High School, during his short tenure there, he has built a solid jazz ensemble and wind ensemble. He has had several students that performed Command Performances in the Alaska State Solo & Ensemble competition.
Tristan received his Bachelors of Music in Music Education from University of Alaska Fairbanks. He plays trumpet and sings with the local 70’s band Shagg. In his life he has performed with many ensembles, including many jazz bands, symphony orchestras, concert bands and in pit orchestras. Recently he performed on the main stage with Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre as a lead in “Clue the Musical” and “Once Upon a Mattress”.

Katie Everson
Kathryn (Katie) M. Everson is a PhD student in the University of Alaska Museum Mammals Collection and the UAF Biology & Wildlife Department. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Katie studied piano for 12 years and performed in dance, singing, and acting.
Katie has supported the Fairbanks arts community since moving to Alaska in 2012, but only became involved with local theater in 2016 when she performed on stage in the Fairbanks Light Opera Theater production of Once Upon a Mattress. She hopes to bring energy and a fresh perspective to Interior Independent Theater.
